«Hello!»… And then — hugs and simple questions about life: how are you?… This is how the intercultural dialogue between the EHU students and a student of the French University of Journalism began.
From March 16 to 20, a delegation of French students arrived in Vilnius. They visited Lithuania to not only get acquainted with the country and the city, but also the people living here and their stories. And on March 19, a meeting between the editors of The EHU Times and Izia Rouviller took place.
The meeting was attended by Katsiaryna Medvidz, editor-in-chief of The EHU Times, Ignatii Varenov, President of the EHU Student Union and Dzmitry Hlotau, author of The EHU Times and co-organizer of the student project 🩸HIV+ Drop.

Time flew like a shot during the dialogue. Watch a short video of the conversation 🙂
We also would like to share Izia’s story: what brought her to Lithuania, what it’s like, to study in France and why journalism is the interest of Izia.
Let’s meet: Izia Rouviller

Izia is 24 years old and she is a master’s student at the French University of Journalism IJBA in Bordeaux. Now Izia lives in Paris (her hometown is Orleans) and combines her studies with work in the French national media «Libération».
Why journalism?
Of course, it was fascinating to know why journalism is interesting as a profession. «I like to write. I like how words can put us in a story, draw attention to a problem, a topic, and make us feel», — the student shared.

And this is not the only reason. Izia is also interested in the social part of journalism — meeting new people and their stories that inspire.
— If we are talking about topics, I am most interested in the topic of human rights. Injustice. I am very interested in Yemen. And also South South America. I was in Bolivia for a month in 2020 and I would like to return or visit other countries in South America.
What brought you to Lithuania?
Izia’s arrival to Lithuania is a part of a project in her second year of master’s studies.
— Every year our students go to one of the capitals of Europe to publish a printed hundred-page magazine about problems and issues relevant to one of the cities. During the week, we made reports, and upon returning to France, we will publish the Viso magazine.

More information about magazines from previous years can be found here.
About impressions
Izia shared with us her impressions of Vilnius.
— Unfortunately, due to the reports, there was little time to properly explore the city and visit different places. I was impressed by how many Ukrainian flags could be seen on the streets, especially on balconies.
